Biography

Dr. Peebles attended medical school at the University of Ottawa, did her pediatric residency at Memorial University in Newfoundland and a one year clinical fellowship in the pediatric intensive care unit at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, ON. She worked as a pediatric hospitalist at Western University in London, ON for 7 years prior to moving to British Columbia in 2020. Dr. Peebles is currently an attending on the Clinical Teaching Unit and Complex Care team. She has held numerous leadership positions in undergraduate medicine and is the Pediatric Undergraduate Medicine Director at UBC. She completed her Master of Health Profession Education through Maastricht University in 2022. Her thesis was a critical narrative analysis of the gap between what trainees are taught about the social determinants of health and what clinicians are able to do in practice.

Purpose of Visit

While at CHES, Dr. Peebles would like to meet with members of the CHES community to discuss her research into education around the social determinants of health, advocacy, and moral distress in trainees. She would like to explore areas of joint interest, discuss methodologic approaches and meet potential collaborators for further research in this area.
