Biography
Dr. Nassim Adhami is a registered nurse with more than 15 years of clinical experience in adult sub-acute, acute and critical care, and a faculty in UBC School of Nursing teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Her teaching practices are guided by the overarching belief that all students have the capacity to learn at high levels. Dr. Adhami believes that teaching is a form of practice, and that practice ought to be evidence-based. As such, she continuously engages with scholarship of teaching and learning to evaluate the impact of her approaches to teaching. Dr. Adhami’s educational research and scholarships of teaching and learning are focused examining how the incorporation of the principles of Universal Design for Learning can contribute to building capacity for learning, critical thinking, and clinical judgement among diverse learners in health professions education.
Purpose of Visit
During her visit to CHES, Dr. Adhami will meet with scientists and scholars to further develop her thinking and work around the incorporation of principles of Universal Design for Learning in Health Professions education as a vehicle to creating inclusive learning environments that accommodate diverse accessibility needs.
