Purpose of Visit

While on sabbatical at CHES, Dr. Lee will be learning the system of medical education in Canada and the “CanMEDS 2015” framework. He will also be meeting with individual members of the CHES community to discuss his scholarship around the support and mentorship of students as they develop their approaches to professionalism and communication.

Biography

Dr. Lee completed his MD and his family medicine training at Keimyung University in Daegu, Republic of Korea. He worked as a clinical fellow in the field of health screening and health promotion for two years in the department of family medicine at Daegu Catholic University Hospital (2005-2007). He has been an associate professor of family medicine at the Catholic University of Daegu since September 2007. He is also the director of the Health Promotion Center and Head/Chairman of Family Medicine since 2012. Dr. Lee focuses on the research of metabolic abnormalities in the clinical field such as diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, etc.

Since 2012, he has been a member of Committee on Policy in KIMEE (Korean Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation) that has developed 97 standards for the appraisal of basic medical education, and accredits BME programs in Republic of Korea.

He was a member of the board of directors of the Korean Society of Medical Education (2013-2015). He has been interested in medical education and faculty development for several years.
