Clinical Educator Fellow
Dr. Janelle Syring (she/her) is a Métis family doctor from Treaty 1 territory with roots in the Red River settlement now living in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). She completed her medical school at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary and her family medicine residency at UBC with the Indigenous family medicine program. Janelle practices full-spectrum family medicine, low risk obstetrics and harm reduction in Mohkinstsis and in Yellowknife and she brings an intersectional lens to her work. She is a clinical instructor with the UBC department of family practice and a clinical lecturer with the department of family medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. She is an anti-racism mentor with the UBC family medicine residency program and she sits on the CFPC Indigenous health committee and co-chairs the NCIME faculty recruitment and retention committee.
Janelle is excited to join the CHES fellowship program and has big plans to deepen her knowledge in anti-racism pedagogy for health care practitioners.
When she’s not working, you can find her chasing after her dogs at the dog park and trolling her husband. She enjoys exploring new cities, eating delicious food, and spending time with her favourite people.
