Frédérique Ouellet

Dr. Frédérique Ouellet is a pediatric neurologist currently pursuing fellowship training in fetal and neonatal neurology at BC Children’s Hospital. Proudly Québécoise and francophone, she completed medical school at the Université de Sherbrooke before moving to Toronto for pediatric neurology residency at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

Following her longstanding love of teaching, Frédérique completed a Master of Medical Education at the University of Dundee during her postgraduate training. Apparently deciding one master’s degree was not enough, she also pursued graduate training in quality improvement and patient safety at the University of Toronto. Her interests in medical education sit at the intersection of how we teach, how learners come to think and feel about what they are learning and how the systems in which we train shape those experiences. She is particularly interested in why neurology has earned such an intimidating reputation in medical education.

Outside the hospital, Frédérique can usually be found hiding in a coffee shop or curled up on her couch with a book, trying to convince anyone who will listen that neurology really isn’t that scary or continuing her quest to find a bagel shop that live up to Montréal standards.
