Purpose of Visit

During this visit to CHES, Michael will be meeting with members of the CHES community to exchange ideas and share lessons learned, regarding: innovation, change leadership, 21st century skills, and transformative learning, with application to education and professional development in medicine and the allied health professions.

Biography

Michael Epstein holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with concentrations in decision sciences, organizational behaviour, and information systems. As an innovator, social entrepreneur, bridge-builder, and change agent, he has provided consultative services to numerous organizations in the health, education, social services, and business sectors.

Dr. Epstein is currently Managing Director of the Centre for Integrative Medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. He has been centrally involved in a number of community-based learning initiatives, including the Integrative Health Seminar, which typically attracts an audience of 80-120 participants representing medicine, nursing, and the allied health professions.

Dr. Epstein is also National Director of the CAM in UME Project, a Canadian medical education initiative.

Over the past two decades, Michael has worked closely with business, community, and thought-leaders, politicians, senior health officials, researchers, medical educators, health professionals, and concerned citizens to build support for complementary and integrative medicine as a vehicle for cost-effective improvement in health care and social services within the Province of Saskatchewan.
