Biography
Knut Eirik Eliassen is a general practitioner and associate professor in Family Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bergen, Norway.
As a researcher and educator, he leads the research group for medical education at the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care. He is a recognized excellent teaching practitioner. His academic interests include clinical family medicine, consultation skills and decision-making, workplace learning, medical uncertainty, and person-centred care. He is committed to both student education and faculty development.
Knut Eirik is head of an innovation project focused on recruiting and training general practitioners as clinical supervisors for medical students in community placements. Also being a supervisor for GPs in training, he works to align undergraduate and postgraduate education in primary care.
Purpose of Visit
During this one-day visit, in connection with his participation in the Patient’s Voice conference, Knut Eirik is interested in engaging with the CHES community and explore areas of shared interest. His particular focus includes staff development and supervisor training for clinical placements outside hospital settings, integrating medical uncertainty into curricula, and aligning consultation teaching practices across undergraduate and postgraduate training.
