Purpose of Visit

During her visit CHES Dr. Corral will be meeting with members of the CHES community to elaborate her program of scholarship in the use of computers as an “autonomous” learning tool to enhance the development of expertise.

Biography

Dr. Janet Corral is Director of Evaluation and Research, the Teaching Scholars Program, and Digital Education for the Academy of Medical Educators; and, Education Evaluation Specialist for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her research focuses developing trainees’ expertise in ill-structured domains, including the use of analytics and human factors approaches to bring about solutions in a systems context. She has won awards for curriculum design, simulation, and educational leadership.

Currently, Dr. Corral is a steering committee member of the Group on Informatics Resources as well as the Academies Collaborative in the Association of American Medical Colleges, and a review board member of Best Evidence Medical Education, which is an international collaboration of the Association of Medical Education of Europe.
