Biography

Dr. Heather Buckley is the Associate Dean, Faculty Development in the Faculty of Medicine. She graduated with her medical degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. In 2019, Dr. Buckley completed the Clinical Educator Fellowship Program at the UBC Center for Health Education Scholarship; during that time she also completed a Masters of Health Professions Education from Maastricht University. Her research interests continue to expand; she has a special interest in the area of faculty development, and holds a leadership position on the Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) Faculty Development Team.

Dr. Buckley is also the Portfolio Pillar Lead, Student Assessment Unit, UGME (Undergraduate Medical Education) at UBC, and she has worked in the undergraduate medical program for many years. She has been acknowledged for her contributions, most recently with the inaugural Dr. Richard Wadge Teaching Award in 2019 and the AFMC Award for Outstanding Contribution to Faculty Development in Canada in 2020. She truly enjoys her work and attributes much of that to her network of supportive, intelligent, kind, and inspiring colleagues.

Purpose of Visit

During this visit to CHES, Dr. Buckley will be meeting with individual members of the CHES community to discuss their research ideas, offer advice, and explore areas of joint interest in patient journey and experience.
