Purpose of Visit

During his visit to CHES, Dr. Archer will be engaging with colleagues around the development of sustainable research programmes and teams in the area of educational research.

Biography

Dr. Julian Archer is Director of the Collaboration for the Advancement of Medical Education Research & Assessment (CAMERA) at Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, UK. Dr. Archer divides his week between paediatric clinical practice and healthcare educational research. Funded by a Fellowship from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Dr. Archer’s research explores the utility of workplace based assessment (WBA) with healthcare professionals. This work includes large scale national programmatic research funded by, amongst others; the NIHR, General Medical Council, Health Foundation and the Medical Board of Australia to understand the impact of medical revalidation and fitness-to-practice.
