Competency-based Medical Education: Are we delivering on the promises?

During this visit to CHES, Dr. Touchie will also be meeting with individual members of the CHES community to discuss their research ideas, offer advice, and explore areas of joint interest.

Biography

Dr. Touchie completed her MD and her internal medicine training at McGill University. Following further training in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, she accepted a position at Dalhousie University (1996-2000) where her interest in Medical Education began. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa since June of 2000, with special interests in the treatment of patients infected with HIV.

Since January 2012, Dr. Touchie is the Chief Medical Education Advisor at the Medical Council of Canada and is presently the co-lead for the MCC’s Blueprint project. Her involvement in faculty development includes leading the CAME course Principles of Assessment for the Continuum of Clinical Competence and as a faculty member for CLIME. Her medical education research interests include various aspects of student and resident training, written and performance assessments, entrustable professional activities and feedback.
