Biography

Dr. Olusegun Oyedele completed his medical education in his native Nigeria in 1993 and worked in General Practice, before going on to earn his PhD in Developmental Biology at South Africa’s Witwatersrand University, where he was Senior Lecturer in anatomy and health sciences education.

Dr. Oyedele arrived in Canada in 2011 and led foundational sciences education at UBC’s Southern Medical Program (SMP). Over the ensuing years, Dr. Oyedele helped to implement the renewed MD Undergraduate curriculum, both at the SMP and provincially. Currently, apart from his teaching duties, he shares in the provincial oversight and development of the case based learning (CBL) curriculum, within the CBL Advisory Working Group.

His research interests include investigating tutor feedback in simulated clinical environments, such as CBL tutorials, and the role of technology in medical education.

In 2017, Dr. Oyedele was honoured with the Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) Certificate of Merit award.
