Biography
Lise is an Associate Professor in Medical Education. She holds a PhD in Social Justice and specialises in Disability Studies, research education, and program evaluation.
A qualitative and mixed methods researcher, Lise works with participatory and co-design methodologies and her research typically focuses on disadvantaged and vulnerable populations including children and adults with disability. In medical education her research has focused on student experiences and widening access and participation for and with students with disability. Lise’s has worked with medical education peak bodies in Australia on disability inclusion, and her research has influenced national education policy and accreditation standards. She is currently developing health professional disability awareness training, online curriculum, and resources, and co-leading a large multi-institutional program comprising research, practice, and faculty development with educators and students to progress disability access and participation in medicine.
Purpose of Visit
Lise is undertaking sabbatical for the first half of 2026 with focus on disability access and participation in health professional education and practice. She will visit CHES in the weeks following participation in the ICAMS conference. Her current work examines accessible processes in admission and selection to medicine. Lise is interested in engaging with faculty and students across the CHES community, to share scholarly perspectives and to hear about the breadth of work being conducted. She is interested in discussing research ideas and exploring areas of joint interest on points of similarity and difference in the Australian and Canadian health professional education contexts.
