Karl Rombo is a resident in Family Medicine in Stockholm and part time PhD candidate at Learning in and for Healthcare Contexts (LLiHC) at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME), at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.

Before obtaining his medical degree of Karolinska Institutet in 2023, Karl founded and chaired a patient organisation for preterm babies, Svenska Prematurförbundet.

His current PhD work focuses on professional development and medical students’ learning and interactions with patients in clinical learning environments and draws on phenomenography and sociocultural activity theory. He will also engage with clinical and educational contexts to broaden understanding of clinical education practices and patient interaction in an international perspective.
