Biography
Dr. Fleerackers holds a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Postdoctoral Fellowship at the School of Journalism, Writing, and Media, University of British Columbia (UBC), where she studies the intersections of health communication, journalism, science communication, and scholarly communication. She is also a postdoctoral fellow at the Scholarly Communications Lab, Simon Fraser University (SFU), a research affiliate at the Public Knowledge Project (SFU), and an instructor at UBC’s School of Public and Population Health. She co-founded and co-chairs the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee for the Public Communication of Science and Technology Network and is a founder and organizer of the International Communication Association Journalism Studies Division Mentorship Program. Purpose of Visit
Dr. Fleerackers looks forward to connecting with CHES members to explore potential collaborations extending her prior work on physicians’ knowledge translation and health commmunication efforts. In addition, she hopes to learn more about Health Professions Education as an academic field.
