Erin Peebles, MD, FRCPC, MHPE
Associate Director, Education
Dr. Erin Peebles is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia whose work spans clinical teaching, curriculum design, and health professions education scholarship. She completed her MD at the University of Ottawa, pediatric residency at Memorial University in Newfoundland, and a Master of Health Professions Education from Maastricht University, Netherlands. Her work has been published in medical education journals and presented across local, national, and international forums.
Outside of work, Erin is an avid cyclist and hiker who enjoys long-distance trekking and cycle tours. When not outdoors, she can often be found knitting or relaxing at home with her partner and their dogs.
Research Interests
My current scholarly interests focus on critically analyzing how clinicians engage with structurally marginalized patients and how trust is built—or eroded—within healthcare encounters. I am particularly interested in how medical education can better prepare trainees to navigate these complexities in ways that are relational, reflective, and attentive to the power differentials inherent in patient–provider interactions. I am beginning my PhD in Women’s+ and Child Health in the Department of Pediatrics at UBC, where I hope to deepen my understanding of these issues and contribute to more thoughtful, equity-informed approaches to clinical practice and learning environments.
