Purpose of Visit

Prior to an in person visit, she plans to have online conversations with scholars of the CHES who will be interested in a collaboration in her PhD work to look at trust between teacher and trainee in postgraduate surgical education from a cross-cultural perspective. During her visit to the CHES, she will observe the postgraduate training programme in Surgery to understand first-hand what the teacher-trainee relationship is like in the Canadian setting. This will give an insight into the element of trust that develops between teacher and trainee in postgraduate surgical education. In addition, she will also look to develop collaborations with faculty who have similar interests in medical education to take up projects that will be of mutual interest and which would advance knowledge in the field.

Biography

Dr. Kadambari Dharanipragada is a general surgeon by training and has taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at JIPMER, Pondicherry, India since 1997. Her area of interest in Surgery includes Breast diseases. She has obtained her MHPE in 2016 from the FAIMER-Keele University programme and is now pursuing a part-time PhD on the topic of trust development between teacher and trainee in postgraduate surgical training. In the field of medical education her interests include undergraduate medical education particularly in promoting integration of basic and clinical sciences, clinical reasoning development and curriculum development. She is also interested in assessment in both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
