Clinical Educator Fellow

Dr. Chelsea Rae Monelle (she/her) is Anishinaabe through her mother’s side (Treaty 3 territory) and mixed settler heritage through her father’s side. She grew up in Lheidli T’enneh territory and still calls those lands home, while travelling frequently to Nisga’a lands and Coast Salish territory for her clinical work.

Chelsea is a graduate of the UBC Northern Medical Program and UBC Indigenous Family Medicine Residency program. She now works as a family physician in rural Indigenous communities, as well as locum work in maternity care and addictions. She is also involved in medical student and residency education in the areas of anti-racism and decolonizing healthcare. Recently, she took on the role of the UBC Indigenous Family Medicine Program Site Co-Director.

Her education and research interests are in bringing Indigenous voices and ways of knowing into health systems and medical education. She is looking forward to working in these areas of the curriculum with undergraduate medical education

Outside of work, Chelsea enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and reading many books.
