Biography

Dr. Bardal joined the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology, College of Medicine, UofS after spending a dozen years as faculty member with the Faculty of Medicine at UBC and the Division of Medical Sciences, UVic. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Bardal practiced as a pharmacist for 7 years. Dr. Bardal has been the recipient of 8 teaching awards in his career, 3 at UBC, 3 at UVic and 2 at UofS, has held significant administrative responsibilities, is first author on a pharmacology textbook, and has had a significant role in curriculum development, with curriculum renewal at the FoM at UBC and recently with the CoM at UofS. In addition, Dr. Bardal co-developed the first pharmacology course offered outside of his department at UBC, developed the first 2 pharmacology courses offered on campus at UVic, and more recently developed 3 brand new courses for the new UofS Biomedical Sciences programs.

Purpose of Visit

Dr. Bardal is on sabbatical from the UofS for the 2023-24 academic year, and during this time hopes to begin building a SOTL research program. Dr. Bardal is interested in how to enhance non-technical skills in undergraduate students. To that end, he looks forward to interfacing with the scholars at CHES, and benefitting from their expertise as he hopes to develop a research approach.
