Purpose of Visit

During this visit to CHES, she will be exploring how medical students develop skills in self-assessment and what types of learning activities promote the self-assessment required for students to be successful in a competency-based educational model.

Biography

Dr. Dawn Cooper is a senior instructor in the MD Undergraduate program where she is the course
co-director for FLEX and Foundations of Scholarship. She is a PhD-trained research scientist who specialized in cell death and disease but is now transitioning to medical education research. She teaches histology, physiology, and pathophysiology as part of foundational science courses and teaches research and scholarship skills to medical students. Dr. Cooper has a few different areas of interest that include curricular integration (foundational and clinical sciences) as well as supporting the development of self-assessment skills in medical students.
