Abstract
The professional trajectory of physicians is one that crosses boundaries – from novice to expert, from trainee to independent practitioner, from observation to full responsibility, from familiar practice contexts to new places of work. Change and transition, whether we like them or not, are constant fellow travellers on this journey. Join us for this WITA session, in which Dr. Walzak will start the conversation by describing her Masters work examining the experience of being on call. Dr. Bates will describe findings of her research study examining family medicine residents’ adjustment to new contexts of training. Dr. Schrewe will then describe his autoethnography of transitioning into independent practice and across diverse practice contexts.
