Purpose of Visit

During her visit to CHES, Deborah hopes to establish a meaningful and long lasting collaboration across the two medical education scholarly communities and will be exploring education research collaborations, sharing best practice and opportunities for brief scholar exchanges.

Biography

Deborah Gill is Professor of Medical Education and Director of UCL Medical School. She has had a broad portfolio of academic roles in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and in education research. Alongside her medical qualifications she holds a Doctoral degree in education from the Institute of Education, London. She is a champion of developing the careers of scientists as educators and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also passionate about encouraging women to take on senior and board level roles in higher education.

Deborah’s research interests include curriculum development and enactment, peer-assisted learning, the support of novice teachers, transitions, and the development of professional identities. She also leads the UCL Medical School Education Consultancy that shares best practice internationally and supports fellow healthcare educators to design and deliver excellent health education programmes.
