Purpose of Visit

During his visit to CHES, Dr. D’Eon will be meeting with colleagues within the CHES community to explore the possibility of enaging with the CMEJ as authors, reviewers, associate editors and readers. He will also be chatting with colleagues about his research interests which include: curricular footprint, pedagogy, interprofessional education, PBL tutorial group processes and program evaluation.

Biography

Dr. Marcel D’Eon completed his PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Saskatchewan. He also has a double major in Political Science and Economics from the Royal Military College of Canada.

Since 1997, Dr. D’Eon has worked at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine in Educational Support and Development, where he facilitates many workshops and coordinates the graduate program in medical education for staff, faculty and residents. For the last five years he has been leading the curriculum renewal process for the undergraduate MD program.

Dr. D’Eon is keenly interested in effective pedagogy, especially cooperative and experiential learning and active learning strategies. He has published in the areas of faculty development, educational theory, program evaluation, and interprofessional education.

Currently, Dr. D’Eon is the interim Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Journal of Medical Education.
