Purpose of Visit

In addition to Rounds, Prof. Jill Thistlethwaite will be facilitating a series of seminar workshops on hot topics in IPE (interprofessional education), participating in the Where’s the Patient’s Voice in Health Professional Education – 10 Years On? conference and meeting with members of the CHES community.

Biography

Professor Jill Thistlethwaite trained as a physician at University College London and worked as a general practitioner in a semi-rural family practice in Yorkshire, UK for 10 years before moving into academia. Her PhD from the University of Maastricht focused on shared decision making and medical education.

In 2010 Prof. Thistlethwaite was a member of the World Health Organization’s study group on interprofessional education (IPE). Prof. Thistlethwaite has written and edited 10 books with another two in press, many book chapters and published over 90 peer-reviewed papers. She is co-editor in chief of The Clinical Teacher, associate editor of the Journal of Interprofessional Care and deputy editor of the Journal of Practice-based Learning. Recent books are Values-based Interprofessional Collaborative Practice and Healthcare Professionalism at a Glance. In 2014 Prof. Thistlethwaite was a Fulbright senior scholar and time at the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education, University of Minnesota and has sopken at the Institute of Medicine in Washington DC on the nature of evidence for IPE.
