Learning Objectives

Overall Learning Objectives for the Event:
  1. Identify state of the art best practices, challenges, and opportunities to apply to your own education practices and scholarship.
  2. Describe the scope of health professions education scholarship being conducted at UBC.
  3. Identify individuals within the community who might offer support for your practices or scholarship efforts.
  4. Critique your own scholarship as presented through formal oral or poster presentations.
Morning Round Table Discussions:
  1. Demonstrate understanding of the nuances of the issue discussed, and gain practical tips for addressing the issue in their own educational context.
  2. Identify other individuals who might enhance their scholarly thinking of the HPE issue explored.
Morning Plenary Learning Objectives:

Why Does the Assessor Replace the Teacher in Modern Clinical Education?

  1. Describe the theory and practices of programmatic assessment in an HPE curriculum.
  2. Discuss the conditions that enable the successful implementation of programmatic assessment.
  3. Consider how programmatic assessment might be implemented in one’s own curriculum.
Oral Presentations Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify research approaches that might support their own scholarly activities.
  2. Identify individuals who might enhance their own scholarly activities.
  3. Discuss the particular areas of scholarship currently being enacted at UBC.
Closing Plenary Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe the value of community and collaboration for professional growth
  2. Reflect on their role in advancing the HPE community of practice and scholarship at UBC
  3. Participate in discussions on the future of CHES as a community of practice.

Accreditation:

The University of British Columbia Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide study credits for continuing medical education for physicians. This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and has been approved by UBC CPD for up to 6.25 MOC Section 1 Group Learning credits. This program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 6.25 Mainpro+ Group Learning credits. Each physician should claim only those credits accrued through participation in the activity.
