Purpose of Visit

During her sabbatical visit at CHES, Dr. Price will be investigating best practices in the assessment of experiential learning in the health sciences and how to effectively implement these in the pharmacy experiential program at UBC. Further, Dr. Price will be advancing her knowledge of faculty development in the health sciences and how to support preceptors in their role as assessors.

Biography

Dr. Ingrid Price is a Senior Instructor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. She obtained her PhD in Biological Psychology at UBC and has been a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences since 2001. Dr. Price is passionate about teaching and learning and aims to support her students to develop effective higher order thinking skills.

Since 2001, Dr. Price has designed and coordinated several large case-based courses in Pharmacy at UBC. She has also served in a leadership role on national academic pharmacy initiatives around program evaluation and assessment of learning. She is principally interested in developing and researching assessment methods that both enhance learning as well as effectively evaluate student competence. Dr. Price is also interested in researching and developing faculty development processes.
