Dr. Ian Scott is the Director of CHES. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Practice and is the co-director of the Clinical Decision Making (CDM) course in the undergraduate MD Program at UBC. Ian is also the chair of the Section of Teachers at the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the group that oversees undergraduate, postgraduate teaching as well as faculty development for Family medicine at a national level. Recently he was the chair of a number of curriculum renewal working groups in the undergraduate MD program at UBC including the continuity group, the transitions group and themes group. Ian was also the chair of the curriculum design group for the new MD program that is currently in place at UBC.

Ian has an MD and a Masters in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University and is certified by both the College of Family Physicians of Canada in Family Medicine and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Public Heath and Preventive Medicine.
